Kids Capoeira

Capoeira is important for children so that they learn cool things about history and become well learned in different cultures. Physically, Capoeira helps children develop balance, motor coordination, speed and strength. It also helps to prepare each child for the life challenges they haven’t quite learned yet. Capoeira has a positive influence on not just the children but on the entire family.

Capoeira encourages discipline, helps to teach and instill the value of loyalty, responsibility and self- confidence. In this way it helps in the positive formation of those who participate and become involved in the practice of Capoeira Involvement with Capoeira awakens the musical, physical, artistic and creative sides of the children who practice this art form. Capoeira is an excellent way for children to develop strength of mind and body. In addition to the benefits above, Capoeira helps to build a strong and positive character and personality through self expression in a fun and playful environment.

Axé Capoeira Atlanta has been working with Children in Atlanta since 2011. Since then our group has introduced over 1000 children to Capoeira via shows, demonstrations, and cultural performances in Atlanta.

Kids Ages 4-6 – At this age they’re learning what it means to be active, how to move and how to play with others. We focus on making sure your child is developing all of his or her little muscle in a safe and family-friendly environment. Covering all the bases includes competency in motor skills and movement patterns, personal and social behavior control and enhanced cognitive development. Strategies as they relate to physiological development include the Portuguese language, musical theory and rhythm via Afro-Brazilian percussion.

Kids Ages 7-12 — We place a heavy emphasis on developing leaderships skills for this age group as they will be going into middle school and high school soon! For this age group we focus on self- defense and self-restraint, obtaining enhanced levels of physical fitness, weight management and healthy eating habits as well. Students should improve flexibility and coordination and be introduced to basic tumbling and acrobatic techniques. Benefits include: Self-expression and social interaction, self-awareness, development of intuition and conflict resolution.
