Folklore & Art in Atlanta

Last Friday night, members of Axé Capoeira Atlanta visited the Rialto Center for the Arts to watch a spectacular performance by the “Balé Folclorico Da Bahia” dance troupe. The two-day show included folkloric dances native to “Bahian” Afro-Brazilian influences, music, and some theater style capoeira. Near the end of the show, the performers and audience members made their way outside to the streets of Atlanta for a grand finale style street performance involving batucada (drum line) and dance! A very nice touch to conclude a very high energy show!

The performance provided a great opportunity for our group to get together in appreciation for the rich and colorful culture of Brazil. We left the show feeling inspired to continue our work in the city of Atlanta with our own performances and shows. The performance was great way for us to draw inspiration from other people that share a similar passion for the very vibrant brazilian culture.

From Axé Capoeira Atlanta we would like to send a big congratulations to everyone involved in the the “Balé Folclorico Da Bahia” production including GA State University! And thank you for the special discount!
